SAMHSA’s ADS Center conducted a training teleconference in March 2007 titled Reducing Stigma and Discrimination among People who are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT). A recording of the teleconference has been archived on the ADS Center Web site and is now available to the public.
According the the SAMHSA ADS Center, people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender (LGBT) often have trouble being accepted into communities. LGBT individuals who have a mental illness must cope with additional challenges that accompany their illnesses. The training teleconference explored data on LGBT individuals and mental health.
